Matthew Anderson - President

 

Matthew Anderson is the president of Milestone Marketing Associates, a full-service marketing company in Sarasota, Florida. Milestone provides print, web and event marketing services for local b-to-b clients and specializes in helping software companies grow nationwide. Matthew founded Milestone Marketing Associates in 2009 after he and his partners sold Quest Solutions, a ten-million dollar construction software company, to Maxwell Systems in 2007. Matthew earned a degree in advertising from the University of Florida in 1994 and has 15 years of experience in technology marketing.

 

Ravi Gahi - Treasurer

Ravi K. Ghai a previous Director and VP, Corporate Development at IntegraClick, Inc. and its subsidiary Clickbooth.com where he is responsible for establishment of the infrastructure and the corporate systems necessary to fuel and sustain the company’s growth.

He is a seasoned executive with extensive background in all aspects of running a business - general management, sales, marketing, product planning, technology development and operations. He is an entrepreneur who has founded two companies and held senior management positions at numerous other companies, many of which were venture capital backed start-ups.

Most recently, Ravi was the head of Sales & Marketing at ComponentOne LLC, a developer of software components for Microsoft platforms and applications for help authoring and web self-service. Before that, he was Vice President of Marketing at Moai Technologies, a provider of enterprise wide software solutions for eSourcing and eProcurement. Ravi was also the Vice President of eLearning at CareCentric.

Prior to that, he was Founder/CEO of Competitive Strategies, a management and marketing consulting company focused on providing strategic consulting services to high tech companies. While at Competitive Strategies, he developed and marketed tools for the development, deployment and administration of eLearning and Electronic Document Management Systems. These technologies were sold to CareCentric (NASDAQ: CURA).

Ravi holds a B. Tech (HONS) degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, a M.S.E.E. degree from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Calgary.

 

Douglas A. Cherry - Secretary

Douglas A. Cherry is a partner in the litigation and intellectual property practice groups in the Sarasota, Florida office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. He is Board Certified in Intellectual Property Law. His practice focuses on I.P. (patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and unfair competition) consulting, acquisition, licensing and litigation and computer and technology law, including consulting clients and attorneys in electronic discovery issues, domain name disputes, E-commerce agreements, technology implementation transactions and software performance disputes, E-mail privacy, identity theft, consulting and employment agreements, and technology licensing.

Cherry is member and immediate Past-Chair of the Computer & Technology Law Committee of the Florida Bar. Cherry is a member of the Board of Directors of the Sarasota County Bar Association and is a Past-President of the Sarasota County Bar Young Lawyers Division. He is a member and webmaster of The Judge John M. Scheb American Inn of Court.

Cherry has authored many articles on IP and legal technology. He co-authored the article, "Success in Electronic Discovery," featured in the May 2003 edition of Trial Magazine, and the article, "Litigating the Runaway Software Project," in the October 2006 edition of Trial Magazine. Cherry has conducted seminars on topics such as "E-discovery and Metadata," "Intellectual Property in Business Transactions," and "Ten Fatal Assumptions Made by Technology Companies." He is a graduate of the UF College of Law with a B.S. degree (highest honors) in Decision & Information Sciences from UF.

 

Jeffrey Kratsch - Executive Director

 

Mr. Kratsch has extensive experience in small, mid-sized and large public entities; which include executive level roles in the telecommunications & technology, manufacturing and financial services industries.  Following four years of undergraduate studies in psychology and philosophy, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in marketing from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Master of Science in Business Management from Oakland City University.  In addition to his new role as Executive Director for STF, Jeffrey is also an adjunct professor at the State College of Florida and the Founder of a local non-profit organization focused on sustainability and energy conservation.

Neil Scavelli - Community Outreach Chair
 
Neil Scavelli is the Network & Security Manager for Sarasota County Government. A Florida native, Neil has over 14 years of experience in the Information Technology field.

In 1998, he took a position with Sarasota County Libraries, providing the public with secure workstations and Internet access. He developed the first Sarasota County Libraries website, and as team lead, provided desktop support to the public and library staff workstations.

In 2001, he took a position with the County's newly formed Security & Controls group. While in this group, he spearheaded the development and implementation of the County's current information security program.

In his current position, Neil leads the Data Networks and Security teams, and has been instrumental in reducing operational costs for the County's network while expanding services. He is dedicated to providing efficient, secure, and fiscally responsible information technology solutions.

Neil is certified in Information Security and has an A.S. degree in Business Administration/Management.









Violeta Huesman

 

Violeta Huesman is the Director of Student Services and Graduate Placement at http://www.keiseruniversity.edu/, with responsibilities to actively recruit for potential employment opportunities, and build relationships with employers and community leaders to enhance graduate’s opportunities for success. Prior to joining Keiser University, Violeta work over 20 years in the banking industry as Private Banking Officer at US Bank overseeing all areas of relationship management of high net worth individuals. Consistently exceeding sales goals and winning the Pacesetter Award for the entire greater Cincinnati Private Banking Division. In retrospect it is easy to see that Violeta has been asking people to invest in her companies visions for her entire career! Violeta is currently serving as a board member of Suncoast Technology Forum, is a member of the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund and serves on various educational committees with the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and Sarasota Chamber. 

 

Joan McGill - Sarasota EDC Appointee

 
Joan McGill is the Vice President of Business Development at the Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County (EDC). The EDC is a county-wide organization whose mission is to create and foster economic opportunities in collaboration with community and regional partners to diversify, grow and sustain the local economy. The EDC focuses on business expansion, relocation and assistance. Joan has ten years of experience in economic development. Her primary areas of responsibilities include entrepreneurial and economic gardening program support, expansions of local companies, relocation of new businesses and workforce development. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education at the University of Florida. She has completed the professional course of study from the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute


 


Lauren Kratsch - Manatee EDC Appointee

Lauren Kratsch is the Business Development Manager for the Economic Development Council, Manatee Chamber of Commerce (EDC). A not-for-profit public/private partnership, the EDC works to improve the economic health of the community through the creation of quality jobs, increased capital investment, and increased flow of new dollars into Manatee County. The EDC's three program areas are industry development, entrepreneur/technology development, and workforce development.

A member of the Economic Development Council team since 2003, she currently manages company expansion, relocation and recruitment and entrepreneurial/ technology development.

Lauren is a member of the FEDC (Florida Economic Development Council), SAMA (Sarasota/ Manatee Area Manufacturers Association) and the Port Manatee Propeller Club.She also serves on the Florida High Tech Corridor Core Team Council and Marketing Committee, the Tampa Bay Partnership Marketing Committee, the Manatee Chamber of Commerce Green Business Initiatives and Tech Committees and the Suncoast Technology Forum Event Committee.

Lauren is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology.



Sara Hand - BarCamp Sarasota

Sara hand is currently the founder of SP Hand and Associates.  A seasoned business consultant, professional coach and community builder, Sara actualizes a unique combination of skills and experience from both public and private sectors across a variety of industries.  Her areas of expertise include sales, marketing and business development with a focus on emerging technologies, social media, search engine optimization and crowdsourcing.


Passionate about education and economic development, Sara heads up BarCamp Sarasota, one of the fastest growing and largest informally organized technology, education, and economic development communities in Florida. Sara is president Sarasota Gulf Coast Venture Forum, president of the Sarasota Bill Gove Speech Club and has been an active member of many local community organizations

Her educational background includes an Associate of Arts degree from St. Pete College, a Bachelor and Masters degree from Cornerstone University.  Sara is a Certified Professional Speaker and is currently completing a PhD.

 

Stan Schultes - BarCamp Sarasota

Stan Schultes has been a professional software developer for more than 30 years and is a current Microsoft MVP. He has a passion for building tech communities, and teaching software skills to the developer community through writing, speaking, webcasts, and an Internet TV show. Stan is a book author, former tech magazine columnist, and his work appears in the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) resources. He currently runs the Sarasota .NET Developers Group, and is a co-founder of Barcamp Sarasota.

 

Joe Brachle - Web Site & Information Portal Chair

Joe Brachle, president and CEO of CSI Networks, a technology consulting firm that provides high-tech solutions to corporations and non-profit organizations, has been a local entrepreneur since 1973.

CSI regularly serves a wide range of small businesses by creating and implementing synergistic ways to control and reduce bottom-line problems impacting technology systems.

In addition to his position with CSI, he is a Sarasota Chamber of Commerce Trustee and serves on the Chamber Development and Power Networking committees as well as the chair of the Chamber Technology Committee.

A Sarasota resident since 1965, except for a two-year stint on the Alaskan pipeline, Joe, with the help of his wife Cindy, manages CSI, which has grown from a home-based repair business into one of the leading technology consulting firms in our area. CSI employs 11 full-time staff members in three divisions – managed IT services, data network support and Web site development, earning more than $1.2 million annually.

Joe has been featured in many local publications, as well as receiving the honor of 2008 Small Business finalist in the Sarasota Chamber’s Small Business Awards. He is no stranger to the world of business promotion.

At CSI Networks, Joe Brachle’s job description can best be described as chief rainmaker, cheerleader and corporate promoter.

 

Dr. Sarah Meaker - Education Committee Chair

 

Dr. Sarah Meaker, President of Meaker & Associates, is a business development expert with a demonstrated history of providing executive level leadership training and actionable solutions for today’s most challenging business issues.  With clients ranging from entrepreneurs, business leaders and service professionals to management of nonprofit organizations, Dr. Meaker has provided seasoned counsel and mentoring in disciplines spanning strategic planning, executive coaching, leadership training, sales development and customer loyalty, to name a few.  Sarah is also the founder of the Institute of Dynamic Leadership, an organization focused on the essential elements of leadership development.

 

Dan Forbes - Membership & Services Chair

 

Daniel Forbes is currently a Financial Advisor at Merrill Lynch -The Forbes/Mackey Group.  He graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Luther Rice University with a Masters Degree in Divinity and a Minor in Counseling.  Dan joined Merrill Lynch in 2008 with a background of fourteen years as an entrepreneur and real estate brokerage owner, preceded by a twenty year career as a Pastor and Counselor.

 

Kathleen Durfee

Kathleen Durfee is the founder and owner of TechHouse, a Microsoft Gold Certified partner headquartered in the Bradenton/Sarasota area since 1995. TechHouse expertise includes successful engagements with SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory, SharePoint, Project Server, GP Accounting, and CRM Sales and Service Management solutions. TechHouse tailors each effort to the customer’s needs, and works with customers for some or all of the process-- from Strategy and Architecture to Implementation, Managed Services, Support and Staffing.

Kathleen graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry with Honors and Distinction, and a Masters Degree in English and American Literature. Kathleen is a Microsoft® Certified Solution Developer with over 20 years experience in the IT industry. Kathleen is active in the community and on various boards including past board member of the Suncoast Technology Alliance and the Tampa Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and current board member of Suncoast Technology Forum.






Tom Frank - Past Chairman of the Board

Tom Frank is the former vice president of infrastructure services for Jackson Hewitt Technology Services at the company’s corporate technology center in Sarasota. He has worked 20 years in the IT field with 18 years right here in Sarasota, including a position with Arthur Andersen’s technology organization.

Frank is invested in the local area and seeks ways to foster the growth of technology in and around the Florida's suncoast. He is particularly excited about the ways in which Suncoast Technology Forum can help promote technology initiatives in the area.

 

Marty Guice - Past President and Chairman of the Board

Guice has over three decades of experience in the telecommunications and IT industries. He was director of business performance management with Lucent Technologies in the Information Technology Division. Prior to joining Lucent, he was the western region general manager for AT&T and formerly held several regional and national marketing and sales positions with AT&T and BellSouth.

Guice’s education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Jacksonville State University and graduate work toward an MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University and Florida Atlantic University. While with Lucent, he participated in the executive education program at Babson College with visiting professors from Harvard, MIT, and Dartmouth.

 

Dan Miller - Past President, Honorary

Dan Miller leads investments and business development for Startup Florida, a venture development firm that manages a technology incubator in downtown Sarasota, Florida, and an angel investment fund.

Miller has helped scores of entrepreneurs start up, organize, grow, and exit their businesses through his company, BizTank. Previously, he was founder and president of PlanetResume.com, a pioneer of online recruiting. Miller successfully completed the sale of PlanetResume.com to CareerShop.com in 1999 and the sale of CareerShop.com to Personnel Group of America (NYSE:PGA).

Prior to starting PlanetResume.com, Miller was a principal and senior vice president of sales and marketing for Software House Inc., a leading provider of facility access control security systems sold worldwide to Fortune 500 and governmental customers. Miller sold Software House in 1994 to Sensormatic Corp. (NYSE:SRM)

 

Paul Hoffman - Past President

 
Paul Hoffman is the president of SouthTech Solutions, Inc., a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner. Hoffman joined SouthTech in 2001. Prior to SouthTech, Paul was the CFO of a national unified communications service provider. Other prior work experience includes president of an accounting and tax software consulting firm; president of a local CPA firm; and manager of a tax software development company.

Hoffman is a Florida Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Information Technology Professional (CITP). He authored and published a series of software selection and comparison books titled Accountants’ Tools and was formerly a columnist and technical editor for The CPA Software News.

Hoffman graduated from Kent State University in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and was a member of the Kent State University track and cross-country teams.
